What parents say...

Mrs I. Iwuala

My Daughter Olachi started attending Start right consulting in November of the year 2009, she was 3 year and 5 months old at the time . A Colleague and friend of mine who had children with similar challenges introduced me because her children had done remarkably well there. My daughter had a delay with making and understanding language prior to starting at Start right Consulting she had been assessed and a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum disorder made. she had some speech therapy for a few months but made only little progress. As of the time Ola started she did not have any meaningful speech , she couldn't respond if asked '' How are you'' , She could not say her name or age could not say mummy or daddy, just to mention a few. I was amazed when within a week or so of attendance , Ola could respond fine when asked how are you . Thereafter she could say mummy , daddy and her name and her parents name all within weeks to months of attendance , academically she learnt her numbers and alphabets , her shapes and colours all over a period of time . By the time Ola was a year in Start right she had made so much progress compared to the first day she appeared there. Now almost 2 years down the line she can make short sentences she answers some social questions etc. However there is no magic to this thing, it is hard work from a dedicated team of individuals that has brought us this far through Gods grace.

Bilaal’s Parent

Bilaal was very responsive during the holiday. He was able to get some motivation from his cousins. He can read and recognize the alphabets although he still mixes letters and sounds. He writes 0 and 1 even though largely. He is not able to write 2 unassisted. He responds to his social questions without hesitation "how are you"? "What is your name"? " How old are you" I need to prompt him by raising three fingers otherwise otherwise he answers "fine". He enjoys stacking objects and pours water into bottles from cup at every opportunity he gets even though he makes a mess sometimes. Bilaal has become less reserved and makes an attempt to play with children a lot. He still enjoys his games and has also increased significantly in his gaming skills. His speech still feels forced. I sometimes intentionally ignore or annoy him wanting him to voice out what he wants or feels. He responds with some jargons "dido dido doo" or "totttiii" or sometimes he just firmly says "NO" He has started to maintain eye contact better than before. He makes his request for what he wants sometimes "water" bina for ribena and just once and never again yet "bread". He sometimes cones to me with what he wants and says "yes" instead of "I want...." He responds well to instructions given to him even two step commands e.g ( get my phone and put it on the table). He can wear his shoes himself( sometimes wrongly) Climbs the stairs continuously( not one at a time) He tries to brush himself He sings his rhymes with better and audible wordings He knows me as mummy, daddy as daddy and knows his brother by name as well as he tries to call his brother name when prompted. He knows how to wash his hands after cleaning up in the toilet. He follows the pattern- stepping on the stool, take the soap, rubbing his hands together before opening a tap and rinsing. Every time. Bilaal has really improved even though he still needs some works as he is obviously not yet at par with his age mates. He still needs some push to initiate conversation. We are more positive by the day. Thank you.

Mrs Veralyn Mbalisike

My write up on Justin's journey... My name is Mrs Veralyn Mbalisike and I am the mother to one of the students of start Right consulting by name master Justin Mbalisike. Justin joined Start Right in May 2017 because he couldn't cope in a regular school setting. He was Unable to keep calm for long to learn as well as understand what he is being taught in the regular school hence the need to bring him to start Right. As Justin kept coming, he improved greatly especially in mathematics and reading. I noticed also that he became calmer, tried making more sentences as well as interact with people. I would like to use my story to encourage other parents...the road is not an easy one when you have a child with special needs but the journey with Start Right helped us to not despair. May the good Lord give each of us courage and resources to keep taking care of their needs. Keep strong and keep the hope up because your child too will overcome

Aniete’s Parents

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for your contributions to the great improvement recorded by our son Anietie and to inform you with excitement that he passed his exams, gained promotion to the next class and most remarkable, bagged an award “A” Best Mathematic Pupil in his class for the just concluded academic session. We are conscious of the fact that Anietie’s overall improvement, including this great stride is a proof of God’s answers to prayers and the fact that the word of God works in all situations. However, we also know that God has used Start Right Consulting as an instrument for accomplishing this miracle. When we recall the debilitating experience we had with other schools and Therapy organizations prior to meeting you, we have concrete reasons to say many thanks for yielding yourselves as God’s instrument, for your commitment, for the display of professionalism and for the love you consistently show not only to our son but also to other children under your tutelage. We have no doubt about our son’s great future, but one thing is certain; when Anietie’s success story will be chronicled, Start Right Consulting will occupy an enviable position. Once again, thank you and God bless.

Mrs. Olukoya

Olu was almost 3 years old when he was diagnosed to be on the autistic spectrum. He started with home therapy which was not yielding much improvement, even when it was incorporated with regular school. Out of frustration, we stopped all forms of therapy and kept him in regular school for about a year. We then decided to try therapy again and so were referred to Startright. He learnt how to read and write, how to speak more words and how to control his tantrums. It took several years for him to be eventually incorporated into regular school where he was assisted until he needed to move from lower grade to middle school. We were afraid that he might not cope but with the help of the teachers at Startright he not only coped well, he won academic prizes. He has done very well, looking back at where we started and we are thankful for the dedication of his teachers. We hope you will not relent in your pursuit of excellence and dedication to the care and training of children with special needs. You have our warm regards.

Mr Ben Nwankwo Williams

I appreciate you and your team for all the support you have given Benedict. The transformation in this one year has been unbelievable. We are very proud. Looking at his situation now, he is communicating fine and obviously very aware of his environment. He also makes good communication. He’s always excited to look for pencils to draw and also colour every chance he gets.
